Business as Usual: Getting Work Done at the Kitchen Table

Updated: Aug 4, 2023

It's the simplest things that I am most grateful for: Day 8 in Cartagena!

Today was my first day back to work after my weeklong #vacation. While I had the most relaxing and fun time last week (and this past weekend), it was nice getting back to business as usual. I wasn’t quite sure how many emails I would have waiting for me, so I decided to hop online an hour earlier just to clean things up. Luckily for me, my coverage made sure that everything was sparkling clean by organizing my inbox and outlook folders. I am a stickler for organization. Although you wouldn’t have noticed that by looking at the setup, I had on my dining room table this morning. Remnants of eggs, mandarins, coffee and tea all intertwined with the cords from my two laptops and travel monitor.

The chaos that has taken over my kitchen table

GOD, I love my life. Sometimes I feel guilty for saying that, but today I am going to go ahead and sit in my #happiness and #gratitude! These are the moments where I am most thankful. What moments? The moments where I am mentally and emotionally at peace with the choices I have made in my life. The moments where I am proud of the black woman that I am today. The moments where I reflect on how I almost died at 26 years old, but today I am living out my dreams. And the moments where I am financially secure, and I know when and where my next meal is coming from. Those are the moments where I am most grateful for. What about you? What are you grateful for?

Being grateful while enjoying coffee!

Not too much happening!

While I didn’t have a packed itinerary for today, it was nice being able to catch up with colleagues, listen to my favorite weekly podcasts and prep for a meeting with my virtual assistant client. Oh! You didn’t know that I run a #VirtualAssistant business? Well, I do, and I am ABSOLULTELY great at it. Check out my website for Business Bestie by B. My hope is that one day both my blog and VA business will generate enough revenue to cover my living expenses (my rent/mortgage and utilities). That way I can put even more focus on doing the things I like with the people I love. Yes! That’s my business slogan hahaha! Anywho, until then, I will keep on grinding, perfecting my skills and promoting myself to the world.

I started my VA business back in January 2023, and just had my relaunch on July 24th, 2023!

I wish I had more stuff to talk about, but this is what a typical Monday is for me. Chill. Relaxing. Watching movies/listening to podcasts, and getting work done. With that, I will catch up with you all tomorrow!
