Foolishness All Around

Day 25 in Cartagena, Colombia

Today I checked into my hotel, and I was a little irritated that there was no elevator. Like, how the HELL do these people get all this furniture up these stairs for their hotels, Airbnbs, and businesses? Like my mind is blown! Who is trying to do labor like this? I guess this is considered a first-world problem. Despite my anger, the staff at the hotel I chose was great. These women are incredibly kind, and they make me feel super safe. Normally I would plug the hotel to get them business, however, I am still here, and it is also somewhat close to the bus station. There are all kinds of weirdos that prey on individuals in transit places and areas.

With that, I want to circle back to a doorstop gadget that my dad and I highlighted in part 3 of my DOs and DONTs of SOLO travel. I don't know what it is about me, but I seem to have the worst luck with housekeeping staff when staying in hotels. Recently I stayed in a beautiful hotel and sure enough, as I was lying in bed naked (at 6:30 am), the housekeeping staff assumed that my room was unoccupied and barged in. In my defense, this hotel was on the beach, and they had a cute glass sliding door situation going on, so I couldn't use my doorstop. But you better believe that I used I am using it now!

My doorstop alarm can be purchased on Amazon HERE.

This alarm is truly so great! It is so loud that I think it could wake a bear when it's in hibernation (I know that was super corny). Anywho...I only checked in during my lunch break. I've gotta get back to work. Until next time!
